[EN] One of the five members of the Viceroyalty of New Granada in the Cortes of Cadiz was José Joaquín de Olmedo, elected in 1810 by the city of Guayaquil, belonging to the district of the Audiencia of Quito. However, it is not rare to find in the literature references to Olmedo as “representative of Peru”. This article analyzes the reasons for this apparent contradiction as well as Olmedo's activity in the Cortes of Cadiz.
