Los Datos Abiertos Vinculados (Linked Open Data, LOD) se refieren a la posibilidad de relacionar datos, mostrarlos o intercambiarlos a través de URIs que los identifiquen en la web de manera inequívoca. El objetivo de estos datos es ser utilizados en la web semántica por máquinas que puedan leerlos para buscar información de una forma automática. Los LOD utilizan una serie de estándares que define el World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) y se etiquetan por medio del Resource Description Framework (RDF) utilizando para ello la sintaxis XML.
