Silicificaciones jurasicas en calizas ooliticas: Genesis y significado paleogeografico (Velez-blanco, Subbetico interno)

Abstract

[EN] In the eastern sector of the Subbetic Zone, specifically in the Internal Subbetic of the Vélez Blanco area, silicifications of the upper part - top of the Fm Camarena, oolitic limestones of Bajocian-Bathonian. p.p. age, occur. They are only present in those Itratigraphic series with siliceous tests (radiolarians and less abundant siliceous spicules)- rich facies overlaying the Camarena Fm. The chert is basically made up of megaquartz. The zoned quartz points to low growth rates from silica-poor solutions. The Itable isotope data of the chert show that quartz precipitated from solutions with a water meteoric component. The proposed genetic model shows a confined gravity-driven aquifer, placed in the Camarena Fm limestones, with recharge of meteoric water coming from the upper and emerged part of tilted fault-blocks which has an important paleogeographic significance.
