Efecto de las condiciones ambientales sobre la mortalidad de corderos en un cebadero comercial

Abstract

Con el objetivo de estudiar el efecto de las condiciones ambientales en la mortalidad de corderos en un cebadero comercial (Zaragoza), se registró la temperatura y la humedad relativa en el interior del cebadero y se calculó el punto de rocío y el THI (Temperature Humidity Index) como indicador del estrés térmico durante dos periodos: verano (junio a septiembre, 2014, n=92) e invierno (enero a marzo, 2015, n=58), así mismo se tomaron datos diarios de mortalidad y entrada y salida de corderos. El cebadero tuvo una media de 5049 corderos presentes y una mortalidad de 2,9 corderos diarios (0,056%). Los resultados muestran la manifestación del estrés térmico en verano con la mortalidad de corderos en los días 5 y 6 siguientes, con un 23,2% mas de bajas cuando la temperatura supero los 30ºC o un 24,7% más de muertes cuando el THI medio presento valores de alerta frente a los que indicaban no estrés por calor. En invierno superar la densidad optima (0,4m2 /cordero) y el parámetro ambiental más correlacionado con la mortalidad (-0,878, p<0,01) fue la humedad mínima.
