Nuevas prospecciones detectan homonimias en las variedades Maturana Tinta y Batista

Abstract

El presente trabajo trata de esclarecer el origen del cultivo, así como la nomenclatura, de dos variedades que comparten una historia similar: Maturana Tinta de La Rioja y Batista de Mallorca. Sus nombres figuran en la colección nacional de referencia y existe constancia de la región de procedencia de dichas accesiones a inicios del s. XX. Pero los genotipos de dichas accesiones antiguas no coinciden con los genotipos de accesiones recientes cuya denominación local sí es coincidente. Además, en las prospecciones llevadas a cabo durante los últimos años en los lugares de origen, no se ha encontrado ninguna accesión correspondiente a las variedades que figuran como Maturana Tinta o Batista en la colección nacional. Atendiendo a los estudios ampelográficos y a la caracterización genética, se considera más acertada la nomenclatura de Maturana Tinta y Batista para aquellas accesiones encontradas recientemente en La Rioja y Mallorca respectivamente, en lugar de las accesiones preservadas en la colección nacional que tienen dicho nombre y que se corresponden con las variedades francesas Trousseau Noir y Canari Noir respectivamente.
