Abstract

: Es el capítulo dedicado a salud, sanidad y dependencia en el manual de sociología La sociedad desde la sociología. Introduce las principales corrientes teóricas en sociología de la salud, indica fuentes principales para la investigación, desarrolla los conceptos principales (las bases sociales de la salud, la construcción social de la enfermedad y de la muerte, la organización sanitaria, dependencia y demanda de cuidados), propone prácticas de investigación y una relación de películas y páginas web relacionadas con el tema. Como referencia histórica, recoge un texto de Concepción Arenal (siglo XIX) sobre los accidentes de trabajo y la influencia del agotamiento por exceso de trabajo en la mortalidad postparto.
