Abstract

El funcionamiento y el grado de eficacia de lo que hoy llamamos apoyo logístico tienen que estudiarse a partir de operaciones militares concretas. Una de las operaciones que se diseñaron a finales de los años treinta y principios de los cuarenta fue la recuperación de Menorca por parte de tropas españolas. Aunque la operación no llegó a realizarse, los largos preparativos demuestran un grado de coordinación y eficacia entre todos los servicios ligados al apoyo logístico que no puede despreciarse. Con motivo de esta proyectada expedición llegó un crecido número de soldados, a los cuales se tuvo que transportar, aposentar, alimentar, armar y cuidar de sus necesidades sanitarias. Muy especialmente el apoyo logístico funcionó muy bien por lo que respecta a la llegada a Mallorca de las piezas de artillería que debían participar en dicha expedición y que, a la postre, sirvieron para modernizar notablemente la defensa artillera de Mallorca. La participación de profesionales no militares en esta frenética actividad (horneros, carpinteros, arrieros, herreros) fue también muy importante y con un elevado grado de coordinación con el personal militar.
