Abstract

La IX condesa de Paredes de Nava, doña Luisa Manrique de Lara, durante su estancia en la Corte como dueña de honor y guarda mayor de las damas de la reina Isabel de Borbón, estableció con ella una relación tan confidencial, que un manuscrito del siglo XVII la identifica como «su secreta valida». A través de la correspondencia entablada entre Felipe IV y la condesa, así como, de ésta con la infanta María Teresa y de las narraciones de su biógrafo, se trasluce esa relación íntima que existía entre los reyes y doña Luisa.
