Abstract

[EN] Ceramic tiles often experiment failure along the production line. Increasing the mechanical resistance of the green tiles would bring a reduction in raw materials waste and therefore a lowering of cost. This would be, of course, beneficial for the producer as well as the final consumer. In this sense the statistical evaluation of the strength of the green tiles can be an interesting starting point. In the present work, two types of stonewares and one wall tile have been tested. Samples were machined from green tiles, from different areas, and for different forming pressures. Possible effects between these factors and the strengths have been discussed. Estimation of the Weibull modulus for each material has been done.
