; Ostracoda of the Villarroya section (La Rioja, Spain): taxonomy and paleoecology]. Ostracod assemblages of the middle Pliocene Villarroya section (La Rioja, Ebro Basin, Spain) are described. A total of 31 species of the Order Podocopida (24 of Cypridoidea, 6 of Cytheroidea, 1 of Darwinuloidea) have been taxonomically determined. Detailed taxonomy as well as biogeographic and stratigraphic distributions of these species have been provided. The analyses of the type and diversity of the studied assemblages allowed us to interpret the palaeoenvironmental evolution of a Pliocene lacustrine system to a pallustrine one, through a basin-fill sedimentary sequence. Finally new data on the oldest record of several nonmarine ostracod species are provided, particularly for those only known so far from the Pleistocene and/or Holocene to the Recent.
