In fact, although there was an abundant archaeological literature of some aspects of the decoration and morphology (Velazquez, 2011), domestic architecture still being an open research line since there hadn’t been, until date, a global vision that integrates the study of its architecture, ornamental program, material culture and its integration into the urban context, explanatory factors of great interest nowadays, under the development in Hispania of the housings in the last decades. Thus, it was necessary to generate a theoretical framework through which the roman houses of Augusta Emerita was understood as an overall reflection, which, with the help of new archaeological remains, could produce a renewed interpretative approach (Corrales, 2012: 256).
