Abstract

El origen de este proyecto radica en el hecho de que las explicaciones que abogan por explicar el neolítico desde una postura única y exclusivamente migracionista o indigenista no llegan a dar respuesta a la complejidad inherente de este fenómeno. En este marco era necesario realizar un proyecto, necesariamente internacional y pluridisciplinar, que a través de la colaboración con otros equipos e investigadores, avanzase en dilucidar algunas de las lagunas de información a nivel de registro empírico y contribuyese al debate sobre la neolitización en los territorios del sur peninsular y norte de África. Aunque el proyecto se centraba especialmente en el estudio de las industrias líticas (principalmente en lo que respecta a la tecnología, tipología y funcionalidad de los instrumentos), los intereses y necesidades nacidas durante su desarrollo obligaron a incidir sobre otras temáticas como: el aprovisionamiento de las materias primas, la zooarqueologia, los estudios del macroutillaje, los análisis isotópicos, genéticos y bioantropológicos.

El proyecto de investigación que da título al presente trabajo se ha desarrollado gracias al financiamiento de la Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia de Portugal (PTDC/HAH/64548/2006).
