Abstract

[EN]: In this contribution we present an approach to settlement patterns of the western sector of La Serena region during late Republican and early Imperial Reman periods, in order to characterize the initial development of the romanization process in this territory. We evaluate the role played by the sanctuary of "La Cueva del Valle" as an axis that articulates this settlement system due to its proximity to many of the fortified enclosures, with which the sanctuary also shares a chronology between the lst century B.C. and the lst A. D.
