The philosophical paths followed by Javier Muguerza and by the author of this essay have gone crisscross. Having came earlier to analytical philosophy, Muguerza soon chose to leave it behind, enbracing instead other philosophical paradigms, whereas the author, who adopted the philosophical perspective later on, has cleft to it with a lifelong attachment. This essay critically goes into the reasons why Muguerza waived the analytical approach, mainly his adjective, or non-substantive, view of philosophy as an oblique-look intellectual occupation, imbued with Kant's lessons on the intrinsic limitations of any philosophical venture.
