Arquitectura doméstica y urbanística en Augusta Emerita

Abstract

[ES]: El presente trabajo se centra en el análisis de la principal documentación existente sobre la arquitectura doméstica de época romana en Augusta Emerita. Nuestra finalidad es dar a conocer los diversos ambientes de los espacios residenciales. A fin de comprender mejor el paisaje urbano de la ciudad romana, el análisis de las relaciones existentes entre casa, insulae, muralla y trazado viario. El concepto de casa romana, que entendemos como un ente dinámico y vivo, se muestra fruto de un proceso continuo de construcción, remodelación, abandono y, en ocasiones, reutilización. Esta evolución a lo largo del tiempo en el que la visión integral de los restos arquitectónicos y decorativos, junto con la cultura material documentada en los espacios domésticos define su esencia. Actualmente, el uso de las nuevas tecnologías, como por ejemplo los Sistemas de Información Geográfica, y su aplicación al estudio del registro arqueológico posibilita un mejor acercamiento al análisis de las técnicas edilicias, de los materiales de construcción o a la distribución de las viviendas dentro del contexto urbano.

[EN]: This paper is regarding to the analysis of the main information about Roman domestic architecture in Augusta Emerita. Our aim is to make known the main aspects about the several rooms of residential spaces. In order to get a better comprehension the urban landscape of the Roman town, the analysis between house, areae, wall and the road network. The concept of roman housing that we understand like a dynamic and living entity. It means a continuum process of construction, restructuring, abandoning and, sometimes, renovation. This evolution through the time where a global vision that include architectural, decoration and material culture rest found define the essential of these buildings. Currently, the use of new technologies like Geographic Information System applies to Archaeology we will approach to the construction techniques, buildings material or the distribution housing inside the urban context.
