Una aproximación a la producción impresa en las tierras vascas al final del Antiguo Régimen

Abstract

Becario predoctoral por el gobierno vasco. Agradezco la inestimable ayuda de Julio-César Santoyo, Javier Itúrbide, Alba de la Cruz Redondo, Juan Madariaga, Isabel Ostolaza, Javier Ruiz, Blanca Urgell y Alberto Gamarra. Lo que sigue es, en buena medida, resultado de sus consejos en los seminarios de investigación Imprenta, poder y sociedad en la España del Antiguo Régimen, organizado en Vitoria por la EHU/UPV el 22/04/2015 y Redes intelectuales y educativas en la transición del antiguo régimen a la contemporaneidad, organizado en Pamplona por la UPNA el 12/05/2015. Los seminarios, así como el presente artículo, se enmarcan dentro del proyecto de investigación del Ministerio de economía y competitividad del Gobierno de España HAR2103-48901-C6-4-R “El proceso de la modernidad. Actores, discursos y cambios, de la sociedad tradicional a la revolución liberal, s.XVI-1850”, años 2014-2017.

Diferentes estudios se han centrado en los impresos de Vizcaya, Guipúzcoa, Álava y Navarra. Tomándolos como base y superando limitaciones geográficas y cronológicas convencionales, queremos acercarnos a la producción impresa en estos territorios desde 1700 hasta 1839. ¿Cuánto se imprime en cada territorio? ¿Qué temas se tratan? ¿En qué idiomas? Responder a estas preguntas pueden darnos a entender mejor esa parte de la cultura material formada por la producción impresa, que no deja de ser característica de la proyección que una sociedad hace de sí misma.
