Comerciantes del delfinado en la Sevilla del siglo XVIII, organización familiar y entramado comercial

Abstract

En el presente trabajo se analiza la trayectoria histórica de una familia de comerciantes franceses que durante la primera mitad del siglo XVIII se asentaron en Sevilla. Procedentes de los Altos Alpes, en la provincia del Delfinado, Roland Hermil y María Baylle serán las piezas centrales que definan el desarrollo de un entramado comercial cuyo eje principal pivotará entre las dos ciudades más importantes de la Baja Andalucía, Sevilla y Cádiz. Durante generaciones, la familia Hermil-Baylle se vinculará matrimonialmente con personajes naturales de esta provincia francesa, y al dedicarse todos sus componentes al comercio de mercerías, paños y libros, mantendrán habitualmente relaciones de negocios entre ellos. Asimismo, además de Sevilla y Cádiz, también encontraremos miembros de esta familia distribuidos en distintos puntos de la geografía española y europea, hecho que les ayudaría en el desempeño de su actividad.
