Abstract

El acceso a recursos por parte de agentes económicos y sociales son aspectos centrales, y hasta podría considerarse un tema clásico, de muchos de los estudios de las áreas de conocimiento de las ciencias sociales. Conjuntamente, a partir de la segunda mitad del siglo XX, el desarrollo experimentado por las investigaciones relacionadas con el estudio de las redes sociales, ha permitido dotar de explicación a las dinámicas de intercambio de recursos entre agentes más allá de los tradicionales argumentos mercantilistas (Ej.: Adams, 1967; Podolny y Baron, 1997; Uzzi, 1997; Gulati, 1998; Hansen, 1999; Lin, 2001). De hecho, el establecimiento de vínculos sociales entre diferentes tipos de actores se considera como uno de los canales a través de los cuales información y otro tipo de recursos fluyen entre las distintas esferas institucionales que forman la sociedad actual (Etzkowitz y Leydesdorff, 2000; Molas-Gallart, Tang et al., 2000). La presente tesis doctoral toma en consideración estos dos aspectos fundamentales: las relaciones sociales entre agentes pertenecientes a distintas organizaciones y los recursos que intercambian. En ella se analizan las características de los vínculos sociales y el intercambio de recursos tangibles e intangibles en las relaciones de colaboración destinadas al desarrollo de la investigación en nano-materiales. En concreto, se determinan cuáles son las características del vínculo social asociadas a una mayor percepción de acceso a recursos por parte de los actores que forman la relación social. En esta investigación, se ha adoptado un enfoque contingente tanto teórico como operativo a la problemática de estudio, prestando especial atención a aspectos referentes a los actores que forman la relación, como son la posición jerárquica y la distancia social que los separa.
