Capital cultural y social: sus efectos en el conocimiento financiero segun PISA 2012

Abstract

El presente trabajo explora los determinantes del rendimiento académico financiero entre los jóvenes de 15 años en 13 países de la OCDE utilizando la base de datos PISA 2012. Nuestro punto de partida es la consideración de que el entorno familiar puede descomponerse al menos, analíticamente, en cuatro componentes diferentes: capital económico, capital humano, capital cultural y capital social. La estructura jerárquica de la encuesta PISA nos permite aproximarnos a estas cuatro dimensiones distinguiendo entre el nivel individuo y colegio, estimando diferentes modelos multinivel en los que se considerarán las diferencias de las variables de capital social y cultural en función del colegio al que asisten los estudiantes. De forma generalizada podemos afirmar que tanto el capital cultural y social del alumno como del colegio se asocian positivamente a un mayor rendimiento en competencia financiera. Nuestros resultados contrastan la teoría de la reproducción cultural de Bourdieu a través de las variables de capital cultural (estático) y social (dinámico), obteniéndose evidencia de movilidad cultural en el capital cultural estático, pero a su vez, alcanzando mayor efecto las variables de capital social en los centros que parten de una posición superior a la media, lo que indicaría reproducción cultural en la parte dinámica.
