Abstract

[EN] The remediation of soils contaminated with trace elements is a difficult task, because of the toxicity, immutability and relative immobility of these elements in the soil. For these reasons, the contamination with trace elements in soils is permanent, because the complete removal of these elements from soil, without altering its properties is in most cases practically impossible. The conventional technologies for the remediation of soils contaminated with trace elements, by removing or stabilizing (isolation and sealed), and by more innovative ones (physical-chemical acid extraction and electric-osmosis washing, or in situ immobilization by vitrification), are very drastic, expensive and pose an important deterioration for the soil and the environment. The application of these technologies affects negatively the ecological activity of the soil and its productivity, so they are no longer suitable for the cultivation or the development of plants.
