[ES] Meloidae son una familia de Coleoptera que está bien representada en las regiones áridas y semiáridas del mundo. Dentro del continente americano la mayor diversidad genérica se encuentra en la región Neotropical, donde habitan 35 géneros, de los cuales 28 son endémicos, en contraste con la región Neártica, que posee 22 géneros. Este capítulo resume el estado actual del conocimiento de la familia en la Argentina. Se incluyen sus generalidades taxonómicas, clasificación actual, especies citadas y distribución geográfica, además de brindar información sobre las colecciones entomológicas de la Argentina que alojan especímenes de Meloidae.
[EN] Meloidae are a family of Coleoptera well represented in the arid and semiarid regions of the world. Its greatest generic diversity in the American continent lies in the Neotropical region, with 35 genera (28 are endemic), in contrast with the Nearctic region, that has 22 genera. This chapter summarizes the present state of the knowledge of the family in Argentina and includes taxonomic generalities, present classification, cited species, and geographic distribution, also providing information on the argentinian entomological collections housing specimens.
