Materiales cerámicos y adobes del yacimiento de la Edad del Hierro de Basagain, Gipuzkoa (País Vasco)

Abstract

Se ha estudiado de un modo integral, aplicando una aproximación morfotipológica, arqueométrica y funcional, el conjunto de materiales cerámicos y adobes del poblado fortificado de Basagain, con el propósito de profundizar en el conocimiento de los patrones de producción cerá- mica de las comunidades que lo poblaron. La caracterización arqueométrica se realizó mediante lupa binocular, lámina delgada y microscopía petrográfica, difracción de rayos X (DRX), análisis químico por espectrometría de fluorescencia de rayos X (FRX) y técnicas estadísticas multivariantes. Se empleó también cromatografía de gases-espectrometría de masas (CG-MS) en la determinación de la funcionalidad de un recipiente.

A pesar de la fragmentación del material, los resultados indican que se trata de una producción cerámica muy homogénea, elaborada con sedimentos arcillosos locales y adición deliberada de calcita machacada en la cerámica modelada mano. El estudio integral ha servido para determinar la función y el uso de los recipientes cerámicos del poblado y la tecnología desarrollada en su manufactura, así como para aislar los procesos postdeposicionales que influyen en su mala conservación.
