Abstract

Escribe el maestro Andioc que en el XVIIL Ios espectadores "no se sentían atraídos únicamente por la obra principal del programa: las tonadillas y sainetes (...) tenían tantos aficionados como las comediasw1, pero eso es lo mismo que ocurría un siglo antes, pues bien claro nos dice don Manuel Antonio de Vargas, editor de Quiñones en 1645. que los entremeses de este ingenio ayudaban a la representación de las comedias, si eran malas porque las hacían valer, si buenas porque las elevaban hasta los limites más altos de aceptación2. La situación no había cambiado en el XVIII, hasta el punto de que el ilustrado Njpho escribía en el año 1763 a propósito de una representación que "los intermedios de entremés y sainete fueron algo tibios y los espectadores no quisieron calentar mucho los asientos. decía que si una obra dura en cartel 11 días, lo cual era mucho tiempo, " a fuerzas de atajos y ser buenos .todos los intermedios". Hasta tal punto son importantes que lriarte escribe al conde de Aranda en 1767 "se puede considerar la representación de nuestras comedias como mero pretexto para los mismos sainetes y tonadillas y ,y a sabemos que con sainete se podía comprender también al entremés en la segunda mitad de siglo.
