Abstract

[ES] La fragilidad del sistema natural en los alrededores de Zaragoza viene marcada por las limitaciones edáficas y climáticas. La presión antrópica sobre este paisaje estepario semiárido es irnportante y afecta a los recursos naturales de suelo y vegetación, produciendo su degradación. El riesgo de desertificación que amenaza algunas de las áreas mas degradadas requiere actuaciones orientadas a minimizar el impacto antrópico promoviendo medidas de conservación del suelo así como usos mas racionales del mismo. En este trabajo el punto de partida ha sido el estudio de suelos, realizado a escala 1:25.000, sobre un área de 16.213 has que comprende distintos sectores en los alrededores de Zaragoza. La metodología utilizada combina un sistema experto de evaluación automática de tierras para determinar su capacidad general, junto con un sistema raster de información geográfica que permite integrar toda la información fisiográfica con objeto de analizar distintas alternativas y proponer usos mas racionales del suelo en un marco de conservación del sistema natural. La identificación de las áreas mas vulnerables a la degradación se ha realizado tras la elaboración de un mapa de riesgos de erosión. La conservación del suelo mediante la restauración de la cobertera vegetal se ha evaluado de forma automática para determinar los enclaves de suelos de mayor aptitud forestal. La comparación entre usos recomendados y usos actuales del suelo evidencia que las mayores discrepancias se producen en las áreas de tierras mas marginales y de mayor fragilidad del sistema. Finalmente se proponen algunas medidas de conservación de suelo y paisaje en los sectores estudiados,

[EN] The semiarid steppe surrounding Zaragoza, in the middle Ebro valley, constitutes a very fragile ecosystem with important edaphic and physiograpic limitations. This landscape shows strong degradation features affecting its natural resources of soil and vegetation. Anthropic pressure as deforestation/aforestation, overgrazing and land use changes may increase the danger of desertificclon by destroying the scarce xerophitic vegetation protecting the soil surface. Land evaluation is a first step for land use planning and landscape conservation. An attempt to design suitable land uses by applying a raster geograpbical information system to this area of 16,2 13 has is presented here. A soil survey at a scale of 1:25,000 has been carried out. Qualitative assessement of erosion risks has been established by combining information on soil types, land classes, climate, Vegetation cover and siope. Land suitability for forest uses has also been assessed. Comparison between the recommended soil uses and the actual ones has evidenced that the more fragile and marginal areas support the greatest discrepancies. The land use proposed limits agriculture and forestry to especified areas. Finally, sorne guidelines for best ecosystern conservation are suggested.
