[EN] In the Ebro Basin, the process of salinization to be the dominant desertization mechanism. In this environment, which is especially vulnerable due its geology, climate and geomorphology, the action of man is responsible for the growth of saline areas, via the mechanisms listed. In these areas, the ionic composition of the salts is a factor in differentiating their soils, and leaves its mark on the countryside by means of the physicochemical properties, the geotechnical behaviour or their nutritional toxicity given to the soil. The paper highlights the need for a specific research plan, whose priorities should be to contain the spread of salinization, and to examine the recovery of salinized areas.
