Aplicación del Geotermómetro de la Clorita en el Yacimiento Epitermal de Zn-Pb-Ag de Patricia (NE Chile)

Abstract

El yacimiento de Patricia representa un ejemplo de mineralización epitermal de metales de base y plata, inusual en la parte norte de la cordillera andina de Chile. El yacimiento forma parte del proyecto minero Paguanta, el cual se sitúa en el extremo norte del Cinturón Oligoceno Andino de Pórfidos de Cobre de Chile. La mineralización de sulfuros se desarrolla en un sistema hidrotermal de vetas orientadas E-O con buzamientos subverticales, encajadas en rocas volcánicas de tipo andesítico de edad Cretácico Superior a Terciario. Las vetas muestran texturas bandeadas donde se han definido tres etapas de mineralización (Chinchilla et al, 2013 y 2014): la etapa (1) con cuarzo, pirita y arsenopirita, la etapa (2) de mineralización principal, con esfalerita (6 a 15 mol.% FeS), galena y cantidades menores de fases de plata, calcopirita y pirrotina y la etapa (3) con cuarzo tardío, kutnohorita y cantidades menores de sulfuros. La alteración hidrotermal que presenta la roca de caja es de tipo clorítico y sericítico. Además se observa precipitación de clorita en el interior de las vetas mineralizadas (Fig. 1). Las relaciones espaciales con cuarzo y esfalerita sugieren que esta clorita se forma a finales de la primera etapa y/o durante la segunda etapa.
