Abstract

[EN] The present study analyses the geomorphological implications derived from the interaction between the gypsiferous lithofacies and flowing waters in the stream channels of the Ebro river basin. In these, the main effects relate to the development and incision of meanders and the lateral shifting of rivers. A close relationship between the types of gypsiferous hillslopes in the stream channels and their location in concrete sections of the meanders has been encountered. In these meander sections, the fluvial dynamic determines the hillslope type and this evolution. Gypsiferous lithofacies have been identified as being the cause of the ocurrence of numerous situations of contact with flowing waters. The fast evolution of these contact situations determines the linearity of the hillslopes in some reaches of the stream channels in the Ebro river basin.
