Abstract

Experiments have been carried out in order to study the influence of Formaldehyde (0.08%) and gamma racliation (1.700 rads.) on the reproductive behaviour in Ceratitis capitata (Wied.). Males and females of med-flies treated with formaldehyde in the larval diet and gamma radiation as pupae 9 days old, increased significatively the preoviposition periodo The fecundity and ferti1ity in females was reduced, being the sterility about 70%; this result was not influenced by the presence of formaldehyde in the larval diet. When both, males and females were irradiated, the fertility levels were smaller than the ones obtained when only one of them received the radiation.
