Se han realizado experimentos para estudiar la influencia del formaldehido,a diversas concentraciones, sobre el ciclo biológico y comportamiento reproductor de Ceratitis capitata (Wied.).Los resultados de este trabajo muestran que solamente afecta al tiempo de pupación. Existe un claro ritmo de puesta diario, con un máximo de puesta entre la 2a y 5a horas a partir del comienzo del fotoperiodo. La fecundidad y fertilidad del insecto son menores a medida que los adultos envejecen.
Experiments have been carried out in order to study the influence of several concentrations of formalin on the biological cycle and reproductive behaviour in Ceratitis capitata (Wied.).The results of this work show that only the days to pupation are affected. There is an evident daily oviposition rhythm with the highest oviposition between the 2nd and 5th hours from the beginning of the photoperiod. The fecundity and fertility of the insect decrease as the adults grow old.
