The adition of several concentrations of 5-Fluorouracil to the larval diet of Ceratitis capitata (WIED.) does not affect the reproductive behaviour of this species at the doses tested. If pupae 9 days old originated from the above diets are treated with doses of 1500 rads, 1600 rads and 1700 rads of gamma radiation, a reduction of the fecundity and fertility is obtained in the same rate that the ones achieved when this treatment is made on pupae produced from larvae reared in standard diets.
