La influencia de la obra, desgraciadamente perdida, del historiador egipcio Ibn Yünus (m. 347/958) en el Ta'rij 'ulamü' Al-Andalus de Ibn al-Faradi (351/962-403/1013) ha sido puesta de relieve por F. Pons Boigues. M. A. Makki. K. A. Boko y más recientemente por M." L. Ávila y M. Marin. Las afirmaciones de Makki no coinciden con las de los otros autores citados en un punto de gran importancia: los canales a través de los cuales conoció Ibn al-Faradi la obra de Ibn Yünus. Pero antes de tratar este punto, es preciso ofrecer un breve resumen acerca de la obra del historiador egipcio y sus fuentes, tal y como éstas aparecen en el Ta'rij de Ibn al-Faradi.
