Implantación de las praderas de secano

Abstract

Entre las muchas posibilidades del fomento del desarrollo de recursos forrajeros, tan necesarios, desde el punto de vista de la mejora cuantitativa y cualitativa de la producción ganadera, la implantación de praderas y pastos de secano, en la actual zona cerealista de la España árida, sea quizá una de las más prometedoras y una de las más significativas. Mediante el fomento de este tipo de cultivos, en los actuales secanos de «año y vez», podrían conseguirse varias metas de gran importancia. Muchas tierras que fueron indebidamente roturadas para la siembra de trigo y que, a la larga no lograron otra cosa que encarecer los costos de producción de este preciado cereal, volverían a su «vocación» natural que es el pasto y es la pradera permanente, lo cual redundaría en beneficios tanto de la producción cerealista como de la producción forrajera. Otras muchas tierras, típicamente cerealistas, pero esquilmadas, a lo largo de los años, por el monocultivo, conseguirían a través de las praderas temporales, formando alternativas con los cereales, una sustancial mejora de su fertilidad, lo cual de nuevo volvería a redundar en beneficios de la producción de ambos cultivos.
