Abstract

[EN] Larval development of Rana perezi has be en studied at three temporary ponds in León province (NW Spain). Larvae are found from May to September. Growth rates varied between ponds. Metamorphosed individuals were found from July to September. Variation between ponds in growth rates and seasonal variation in metamorphic size in each pond agrees with Wilbur and Collins model. Rana perezi breeds late in the season at temporary ponds and responds to unpredictable duration of aquatic habitats by means of variation in developmental rates and metamorphic size of larval populations.
