Adsorción de Tiabendazol en organo-arcillas

Abstract

La contaminación de suelos y aguas con contaminantes orgánicos como los plaguicidas constituyen una amenaza para los ecosistemas y los seres humanos. Debido al incremento de la contaminación de los acuíferos con aguas residuales industriales y agrícolas, parte de la investigación se está centrando en el uso de minerales de la arcilla, como adsorbentes para diferentes contaminantes orgánicos. En particular, la montmorillonita (Mt) ha sido ampliamente utilizada debido a la gran superficie interlaminar y externa que presenta para los procesos de adsorción. El tiabendazol (TBZ) es el fungicida poscosecha más aplicado en la industria frutícola. Las plantas empaquetadoras de frutas descargan el excedente a los acuíferos, llegando a contaminar aguas superficiales y subterráneas. Con el objeto de disminuir la concentración de este fungicida en agua, se han realizado estudios de adsorción-desorción del mismo tanto sobre montmorillonita de Wyoming (SWy-2, denominada Wyo), como sobre una órgano-montmorillonita (OMt) obtenida por intercambio del 100% de la CIC con Fosfatidilcolina (denominada Wyo-PC). La utilización de OMts como adsorbentes se postula como una estrategia para aumentar la adsorción de los contaminantes.
