Abstract

La invención que se reivindica en la presente solicitud consiste en el uso del microorganismo Schizosaccharomyces pombe (CECT 12775) para la obtención de etanol en condiciones de alta presión osmótica mediante fermentación de mosto de melaza. El mencionado microorganismo es una cepa salvaje autóctona, sin modificar genéticamente, cuya utilidad se demuestra en los ejemplos descritos en la invención. El uso de dicha cepa en dispositivos industriales puede contribuir a la disminución de empleo de agua y a la concomitante disminución de volumen de vertido contaminante.
