Desarrollo floral y reposo en cerezo (Prunus avium)

Abstract

[EN] Tcmperate fruit trees survive to winter temperatures entering a dormant stage. But dormancy is not just a survival strategy, since it is also a requirement for proper flowering, and is one of the main constrains for temperate fruit trees adaptation Lo warmer latitudes. Coid requirements are spccific of each cultivar and, to ascertain cultivar adaptation, specific coid requirements are determined in an empirical way. But the qucstion un why winter dormancy and coid accumulation are required for proper flowering remains elusive. To understand what is behind coid requirements, the main objective of this thesis is Lo frame, in a dormancy context, flower bud developmcnt in sweet cherry (Prunus avium). This main objective is developed along three objectives that characterise 1) the flower, 2) the pollen, and 3) the pistil. The approach ofthis work combines ticld obscrvations, with histochemestry, and starch quantification with image analysis fitted to the microscope.
