Abstract

[EN] We have performed the automatization of a system for the measurement of spectral attenuation in optical fibers. The system consists on an incandescent light source, a monochromator, a chopper, a coupling system to insert light into the fiber and a synchronous detection system based on a lock-in amplifier. The automatization has been made using the National Instrument's LabWindows/CVI 7.1. Depelopment Tool. With this tool we have developed the control modules of two of the instruments used (the monochromator and the lock-in amplifier), a program that allows the calibration of the full system, the measurement of the spectral attenuation of the fiber and a download of the data into an Excel file. We have also designed the Excel file that allows making the calculation of the uncertainties of the measurements.
