Abstract

[EN] This chapter presents the calibration of a conceptual hydrosalinity model in a 3,913 ha pilot irrigation project typical of those present in the Ebro river basin. Model predictions for the volume and salt concentration (total dissolved solids) of irrigation return flows are 2,84 0 ha-m and 2,444 mg/l respectively, whereas measured values are, correspondingly, 3,164 ha-m and 2,273 mg/l. Errors in model predictions are, therefore, lower than 10%. Based on these results, tite different alternatives for minimizing salt loads in irrigation return flows (presently amounting to 18 tons per ha in the studied irrigation project) are discussed.
