1/3 de los suelos agrícolas están afectados por salinidad. ¿Por qué? La causa principal de salinización de los suelos en la agricultura de regadío es la aplicación excesiva de agua de riego en suelos con drenaje limitado. Esta situación conduce a la creación de capas freáticas superficiales que: (1) impiden el lavado de las sales del suelo (2) inducen el ascenso capilar de agua y sales y subsiguiente evapo-concentración.
