Abstract

Uno de los principales objetivos en química organometálica es la introducción de ligandos capaces de mejorar o inducir reactividades nuevas en complejos de metales de transición. Así, la activación de moléculas pequeñas como, por ejemplo, CO2, H2 o NH3, y el desarrollo de nuevos catalizadores en fase homogénea han despertado un gran interés científico en los últimos años. En este sentido, nuestro grupo de investigación se ha centrado en la introducción de fragmentos heteroborano en la esfera de coordinación de elementos de transición. Estos grupos poliédricos de boro pueden actuar como ligandos no inocentes, confiriendo al sistema nuevas propiedades rédox o ácido/base. En este trabajo se describen nuevos rodatioboranos de diez vértices que presentan una marcada flexibilidad estructural redox la cual ha dado lugar a la caracterización de nuevos ciclos estequiométricos. Esta reversibilidad está esencialmente impulsada por la reducción de etileno a etano y la activación de hidrógeno en los clústeres poliédricos de boro. En base a estos resultados, el sistema se ha estudiado en reacciones de hidrogenación catalítica de alquenos y alquinos.
