Abstract

Iniciando un estudio de la composición química de las algas de Galicia, se ha escogido esta especie por ser muy abundante y no haber sido aún utilizada por la industria. Se ha tomado una muestra mensual desde enero de 1959 a febrero de 1960, ambos inclusive. Hasta ahora se han verificado en cada muestra las siguientes determinaciones, peso seco, cenizas, materia soluble en éter y proteínas.[...] Los valores de peso seco de las muestras estudiadas varían muy cpoco a lo largo de todo el ciclo. Se conservan casi siempre entre un 16 y 17%, siendo más bajos los valores en primavera, y algo más altos en verano y otoño. Esto recuerda algo los máximos de invierno y mínimos de primavera que reseñan los investigadores escoceses. Ellos trabajan con Laminaria, especies de mucho mayor tamaño que Bifurcaria y en las que, además, los frondes se renuevan cada año (BLACK, 1948, 1949, 1950). Las proteínas y cenizas siguen un ciclo bastante parecido, y, según la literatura consultada, en los análisis hechos en Escocia sobre laminarias, les corresponde un máximo en primavera y un mínimo en otoño [...]
