Abstract

[EN] The data on the Gravettian of southern Iberia increased substantially in the last few years. New studies carried out on this period have allowed the first general syntheses. In this work, we will review the data and evidence to define the position of this tecnocomplex in the context of the middle-upper Paleolithic transition in this regional framework. We will also focus on Gravettian settlement patterns, technology, economic and symbolic evidence from the Algarve, Andalusia and Gibraltar. The available data support solidly that this vast territory is fully included in the orbit of occupation of the territory of groups with material culture and symbolic gravettian manifestations.
