Abstract

A primeros de junio de este año tuve ocasión de realizar un viaje a Ayamonte, en el límite oeste de la Región Suratlántica. Aunque en principio mi viaje no obedeciera a rezones de investigacion, no pude menos de entusiasmarme ane las actividades, magníficamente dirigidas, de la mejor y más eficaz flota sardinera de España. Por esta razón cambé impresiones con los armadores y patrones de pesca y pude reunir algunos datos interesantes que, a título de información, voy a registrar seguidamente, haciendo especial hincapió en la aplicación de la luz sumergida intermitente en la pesca de la sardina, por tratarse de una cuestión que no ha sido referida hasta la fecha, que yo sepa. Pero antes describiré rápidamente las características de la flota sardinera y artes de pesca de dichas costas. [..] Como hecho característico hay que señalar que el arte está constitufdo por 40 piezas verticales que llaman cuarteladas, de 12,5 brazas cada una, por las 40 brazas de largo de la red. Cada armador trabaja con tres medias tarrafas; la red se desarma por su mitad transversal con suma facilidad, lo que permite que quede siempre en tierra la mitad de un arte, para ser repasado. Cada mitad de una tarrafa consta de 20 cuarteladas; las dos cuarteladas centrales (una de cada mędio arte) poseen, la copejada (matador). [...]
