Secuencia y análisis del locus de la plantaricina C producida por Lactobacillus plantarum LL441

Abstract

En nuestro laboratorio identificamos una cepa de Lactobacillus plantarum, LL441 aislada del queso de Cabrales capaz de producir una bacteriocina de tipo lantibiótico (plantaricina C) que resultó ser activa contra diversas bacterias Gram-positivas patógenas y alterantes. La forma activa de la bacteriocina contiene 27 aminoácidos y actúa formando poros en las cepas sensibles de forma voltaje-independiente y sin requerir la presencia de una proteína receptora en la membrana. En esta comunicación presentamos la secuencia y el análisis del locus responsable de la síntesis de la plantaricina C, la cual se ha obtenido tras la secuenciación genómica de la cepa productora. La región codificadora de la bacteriocina comprende algo más de 8 kpb de ADN en los que se encuentra el gen estructural de la plantaricina C, un gen implicado en la modificación postraduccional del péptido y cuatro genes que codifican componentes de transportadores de tipo ABC; estos se suponen implicados en las funciones de inmunidad y secreción de la bacteriocina.
