Menopausia, isoflavonas, equol y poblaciones microbianas intestinales

Abstract

Las isoflavonas de soja (daid z eína, genisteína, gliciteína) se emplean en el tratamiento de los síntomas de la menopausia debido a su actividad estrogénica . El equol, derivado de la daidz eína, es el compuesto con mayor actividad hormonal . Sin embargo, solo entre un 20 y un 30% de las mujeres occidentales son capaces de producirlo. Esta producción se relaciona da con la presencia de poblaciones microbianas específicas en el intestino que no están bien caracterizadas. En este trabajo, se han estudiado , a lo largo de seis meses, los niveles de isoflavonas y equol en la orina de un grupo de 18 mujeres menopáusicas en tratamiento con un concentrado de isoflavonas (Fisiogen, Zambon; 80 mg). Durante este periodo, s e han estudiado también mediante PCR a tiempo real los grupos bacterianos más representativos en heces [bacterias totales, grupo Atopobium , filum B acteroidetes , bifidobacterias, clostridios (grupos C lostridium cocoides y C lostridium leptum ), enterobacterias y lactobacilos ] . En función de los valores de equol en orina, las mujeres se asignaron a cuatro categorías: altamente productoras ( 1000 - 40.000 nM ) , productoras de niveles bajos y constantes (20 - 80 nM) , no productoras ( 0 - 10 nM ) y degradadoras ( 100 - 3 nM ) . Estas categorías, sin embargo, n o ha n podido correlacionarse claramente con cambios en las poblaciones bacterianas analizadas. En términos general es , el número de bifidobacterias aument ó a lo largo del tratamiento en todas las mujeres, excepto en las d el grupo de degradadoras. En este último grupo, disminuyó también la población de lactobacilos. Los resultados sugieren un metabolismo de las isoflavonas personal, pudiendo participar microorganismos distintos en cada individuo.
