Secuencia y análisis del plásmido pLG42 de Lactococcus garvieae IPLA 31405

Abstract

La presencia de plásmidos en cepas de la especie Lactococcus garvieae es mucho más infrecuente que en las de la especie próxima Lactococcus lactis. Solo de forma reciente se ha caracterizado un plásmido conjugativo, pKL0018, relacionado con resistencia múltiple a antibióticos (Maki et al., 2009; Appl. Environ. Microbiol. 75:3370-3372). Más recientemente aún, se han caracterizado, tras su secuenciación genómica, los cinco plásmidos (pGL1 a pGL5) que contiene una cepa de L. garvieae de origen clínico (Aguado-Urda et al., 2012; PLoS One 7:e40119); en varios de ellos, se han identificado genes que codifican factores de patogenicidad y virulencia. El análisis de los plásmidos que presentan las cepas de L. garvieae puede ayudar a comprender la importancia de estos elementos en la adaptación de la especie a distintos nichos ecológicos y posibilitará su utilización como herramientas biotecnológicas. Nuestro grupo ha caracterizado cepas de L. garvieae procedentes de quesos tradicionales elaborados con leche cruda y sin la adición de fermentos. Una de estas cepas, L. garvieae IPLA 31405, se ha visto que contiene una única molécula plasmídica. En este trabajo se da cuenta de la secuencia, organización genética y análisis de dicho plásmido, denominado pGL42.
