Abstract

En 1971, en una notable monografía sobre Antonio Rodríguez Luna (Montoro, 1910-Córdoba, 1985), Juan Rejano definía al artista cordobés, que hacia 1943 había iniciado su famosa serie Éxodos, como “el pintor de la diáspora española”. Y, efectivamente, no parece que errara demasiado. Es más, visto hoy con mayor perspectiva, la representatividad del pintor entre los creadores exiliados que llevaron al plano del arte la expresión de lo que significó para sus protagonistas esta diáspora, este alejamiento de España, parece haber aumentado todavía más. Es decir, verdaderamente, Rodríguez Luna no sólo reflejó magistralmente en su obra la fisonomía y el dolor del exilio, sino que su misma trayectoria vital y profesional se convierte en un caso paradigmático y singularmente representativo del artista de la emigración en la que se vio inmerso. Así, el presente trabajo aborda cuatro aspectos principales, planteándose en el primero la serie de circunstancias que hacen representativos del fenómeno del exilio artístico español a este pintor y a México; en el segundo se analiza la formación y trayectoria de este artista en España; en el tercero se expone cómo se inserta Rodríguez Luna entre las características y las generaciones del arte español del exilio mexicano y, finalmente, en el cuarto se estudia el paso de este pintor por las diferentes etapas de dicho exilio.
