One of the purposes of the research programs conducted by the Instituto de Astronomía y Geodesia in Canary Islands, is the researching in phenomena that are volcanic eruption precursors. In 1987 a geodynamic station was installed at the north of the island. In the station different kinds of instruments have been installed (gravimeters, clinometers, extensometers, tide gauges, ...). In February 1993, we have installed a gravimeter at the sout-west part of the island, Timanfaya, where very important thermal anomalies exist. Simultaneously, we have develop a deformation model that have allowed us to study the instruments and techniques more appropiates to volcano monitoring in the island. In this paper we present conclusions of the application of the deformation model to Lanzarote, and first results obtained for data registered in the geodynamic station.
