[EN] They're now being published, with their complementary comments and notes, the mail mantained between Santiago Ramón y Cajal (1852-1934) and Wilhelm His (1831-1904). The letters were written between 1890 and 1893. Only six letters have survived in time and they ilustrate what we can consider the first stage in neuro-embryological works of Cajal. At that stage, the experiments and observations of the neuronal prolongations developement directly lead to the use of the ontogenic method, that is, the use of embryons or young animals to view the neuronal cells and the verification of their independence. The consequences of the experiments were the description of the phenomenon known as «growing cone».
