Los cánones de las Tabulae Resolutae para Salamanca: origen y transmisión

Abstract

El manuscrito Canonici Mise. 27 de la Bodleian Library de Oxford es un manuscrito latino del siglo XV, de origen español, que contiene diversas tablas y textos astronómicos. Entre ellos hay un texto en 18 capítulos, que se transcribe en anexo, en el que se explica la manera de utilizar unas tablas astronómicas, llamadas Tabulae Resolutae, calculadas para el meridiano de Salamanca y que se encuentran también en ese mismo manuscrito. Su autor puede identificarse con Nicolás Polonio, el primer catedrático de astronomía en la Universidad de Salamanca (ca. 1460). Los cánones de las Tabulae Resolutae escritos por Polonio para sus estudiantes de Salamanca son una adaptación de los que escribió Andreas Grzymala para la Universidad de Cracovia (1449), que, a su vez, se inspiran ampliamente en los cánones para las Tablas Alfonsíes compuestos más de un siglo antes en París por Juan de Sajonia.
